Stars & Daylilies: Simple Leopard Print Look

The Stars & Daylilies Series is a series of makeup tutorials using colors from the Day, Night & Play 77-Piece Collection from Ulta. This exact kit is no longer available for purchase, but Ulta almost always has a kit for sale with a lot of the same colors. Of course you can always buy the colors you like individually, but you can also find similar versions of these colors in other kits and palettes. I am going to start off with very simple, basic, easy looks and throw in more complex looks as the series goes along. This way people who do not have major makeup experience can do these looks with ease and people who love makeup and finding new makeup looks can get new ideas. I posted the first tutorial of this series on January 4 at AddisonThe15th Channel on YouTube, and hopefully I will be able to get on a good schedule and start posting one or two tutorials a week. We'll see!
As some of you know, I have a slight obsession with leopard print right now, and one of the coolest makeup looks I have ever learned how to do is leopard print eyes. So tutorial number two is an easy way of getting leopard print eyelids!

     Products Used:
- Nyx Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk
- Ulta Matte Eyeshadow in Camel
- Ulta Shimmer Eyeshadow in Toast
- Ulta Matte Eyeshadow in Bone
- Nyx Studio Liquid Liner in Extreme Black
- Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper
- Maybelline Define-A-Line Eyeliner in Ebony Black
- Maybelline Volum' Express The Colossal Cat Eyes Mascara
- Burt's Bees Honey Lip Balm
- Ulta Super Shiny Lip Gloss in Natural
Brushes from Sonia Kashuk & Icing by Claire's

I actually have learned how to do leopard print eyes three different ways, but I decided to show you how to do my favorite way for this series. In the distant future I might do another version if there is a series I think would benefit from a leopard or cheetah look, or something along those lines, but for now I am only going to post pictures of the other two looks.

The first picture is the look I did in the tutorial. The middle image is the way I did my makeup for Halloween. It is the same look, but with liquid liner instead of the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner. The last picture is a version I did using Nyx Cosmetics Cream Eyeshadow in Gold.

I'm really excited for the next tutorial in this series! It is going to be inspired by my favorite fairytale princess! Feel free to guess who! Until next time, may the sun always shine your way! Ciao!

Fragrance of the Month & 2 Product Reviews

In this video I share four fragrances I sampled or bought in the past month that I really liked, and the fragrance I liked the least or not at all. I also did a product review of the brush guard and two delicious smelling fortune cookie soaps!

The fail fragrance for January is Beautiful by Estée Lauder. I thought it was too strong and just not the smell for me, so I gave it a thumbs down. DKNY Golden Delicious is sweet and fruity, and in one of the coolest perfume bottles I have ever seen. It is shaped like an apple. You press a little button to spray. I thought it was just SO cute! Poppy by Coach, or what I call "Coach Poppy", has a couple different variations, but they all smell pretty similar and wonderful! I kept a sample of this in my wallet and I wanted to buy it, but I didn't think I needed to spend any more money on perfume this month. Refuge by Charlotte Russe is not a high brand perfume, but it smells just as good as any expensive bottle! So if you are short on cash, but need to smell nice for school, an event, a date, or whatever, this is the stuff to buy. The box I bought was bright pink and just said "refuge" on it, with a little filigree design (you can see the bottle in the video). Fantasy by Britney Spears is an old perfume, one I have been using for years, but I just recently found the best in-store deal you can find for this product. CVS carried a gift set this Christmas that went on sale for $10.00! You can't beat that! It might not be around anymore. But Target should have a similar set for $20.00. You can still buy this product at it regular price at Ulta.
The Brush Guard is a product I discovered last month when I started looking for new ways to dry my makeup brushes. The big issue with using makeup brushes is that they need to be washed regularly and hung upside down to dry to keep water out of the ferrule. The ferrule is the metal part of a brush that holds together the bristles and the handle. If water gets into the ferrule, the bristles fall out and then your brush is ruined. So how do you dry them upside down without ruining the shape of the bristles? Well I'm glad you asked! You can do what I used to do and still do for some of my thicker brushes...

I just looped a hair tie around them and they stay perfectly! LOL

OR you can get brush guards which allow you to dry your brush upside down, while keeping it's shape and protecting it from evil germies! These brush guards can be cleaned when dirty and they are designed to protect almost any kind of brush. They come in four sizes; large, medium, small, and extra small. These are wonderful for smaller brushes like eyeshadow brushes and blush and bronzing brushes, but it takes forever for concealer and khabuki brushes to dry in these things and that is not good! So I don't recommend them for large thick brushes, but I highly recommend The Brush Guard for your smaller and medium size brushes. Watch the video to see how to put them on your brushes! You can purchase this product at amazon.com. http://www.amazon.com/The-Brush-Guard-Variety-Pack/dp/B0049J7P3S/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1358725541&sr=8-1&keywords=the+brush+guard
Fortune cookie soap is my new thing! I think these are one of the coolest things I have ever bought! They smell great, look so cool, and I can't believe they exist! Here's the link to these also; http://www.fortunecookiesoap.com/collections/fortune-cookie-soaps

I got Candy Cane Fluff and Blueberry Jackflaps! They both smell great and I am tempted to use Candy Cane Fluff even though it is a holiday soap and the holidays are over. Candy Cane Fluff smells like a bonfire with candy canes in it, and Blueberry Jackflaps smells like freshly made blueberry pancakes! They smell SO good! I do not know which one to use first! So comment and let me know which one you think I should use! You can leave me a message here on my blog, or on YouTube, or the AddisonThe15th Facebook page, or you can even tweet which one you think I should use first! Just put @JesseFaithR & I'll get it!
I hope to post a new makeup tutorial by the end of this week. I just filmed the January AddiUpdate so that will be up by January 30 at the latest! Take care and may the sun always shine your way! :) Bye!

Body Art Activity

Your kids will love this! I did this with some kids I babysit. I just let them draw all over my legs with some body crayons you can find at party stores. It comes off with soap and water, but make sure you don't get this stuff on your carpet. It comes out of anything, but not easily.

Here's some links if you have trouble finding body crayons.

Red & Green Cupcakes

This really should have been entitled multicolored cupcakes, because you can do this with any color and you can do it with more than two colors if you have the patience. You can also make multicolored cake using this same method.

It is very simple to make cupcakes and cake with different colors. You simply separate your batter into different bowls and then add about 5 drops of food coloring into each bowl. For the cupcakes I only need two bowls, because only mixed to colors. I had one bowl of green batter and one bowl of red batter. Actually the red batter looked a little more like pink batter, but all you have to do is add more red coloring until you get close to the desired color. After you have mixed the food coloring into the batter, creating a solid color, pour one of the colors into each cup. Fill each cup about 1/3 full and then just pour the other color on top until each cup is 2/3 full. The key is not mixing the food coloring. You are just simply pouring the already colored batters on top of each other. I used white cake batter for my cupcakes.

I call this yummy creation my Crayola Party Cake! To make multicolored cake, you just do the same thing. Mix your colors in different bowls and then just pour the colored batters on top of each other in the cake pan or cake mold. Super simple, but fun and cute! People will love these!

Christmas DIY Gift Sets

Two of my friends had some great gift ideas! These were so awesome I just had to blog about them! The first one I want to share with you is this awesome DIY gift basket in a vase...soooo it is more like a gift vase!

All of the stuff fit in here before I took it all out. She put some great stuff in here and I'm going to list it all and talk about each product, but I liked this idea because almost any girl will appreciate a gift like this! You can put body spray in there, those little Bath & Body Works hand sanitizers, lotion, a nail file, maybe some nail polish. Fill it with a bunch of tiny things every girl needs and you have a wonderful gift!
In the vase I got for Christmas there was a bath bomb and a cute package of shower gel from Simple Pleasures in Sweet Candy Dreams, glitter snowflake ornament,

holiday candy cane hand cream from Ulta and a pink loofah, travel eyelash curler & shimmery lip gloss stack, and a "Sweet Dreams" night mask.

Another good gift set I got was a scarf with some yummy goodies! So simple, especially if you don't like the idea of going out and finding a bunch of little things or you want to give a simple gift like a clothing item a little something extra! I also loved this idea, because you can get a bag matching the persons personality like my friend did. I love kittens! They are so cute! I'm also a photographer and I thought this picture was beautiful! Inside my kitty gift bag was a fluffy scarf and a holiday baggy with cookies, chocolates, and a candy cane inside. YUM!

These are definately ideas I will use next year if I can! Thank you shout out to the two awesome girls who gave me this gift! I love you both! As for all of my subscribers, I hope you feel enlightened and until next time, may the sun always shine your way!

Gift Ideas For Next Year

First, I want to say thank you to all my amazing friends and family for not only the creative gifts I received this year, but also for the inspiration that those gifts brought me. There were some amazingly heartfelt gifts, some new gift ideas I had never even thought of, and also a bunch of gift ideas I could try next year.
I posted a video on AddisonThe15th of some of the items I got this year. So you can go check that out.

     Gifts from the video:

- a DISNEY CINDERELLA COLLECTION pouch featuring 14 samples of products sold at Sephora
This is no longer in stock anymore, but little sample pouches are good gifts for people who are new to makeup and perfume, because they can try a bunch of stuff out to see what they like. I liked it just because I really enjoy trying new products.

- Bamboo Makeup Brushes from Icing by Claire's
Icing doesn't have a website showing all of their products, but the brushes can be found at Ulta and drugstores.

 - Eye Mask and Lipstick Stack
These two items were in a really cute gift from one of my friends. I'll post pictures and more details on that later.

 - Bunny Couple Ring Holder from Forever21
I got my best friend one and me one so it was basically a gift to myself and her. We both had pet bunnies and we love bunnies so this was a fun gift.

 - Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner in Stingray

 - Dove Peppermint Bark

 - Liplicious Lip Gloss in Marshmallow Crème from Bath and Body Works

 - Fluffy Cheetah Print Scarf
Scarves are always a good gift! This one feels amazing and is in a print I really like!

- Heart Key Picture Holder from Kohl's

     Gifts not on the video:

 - Food Network™ 2-Layer Cookie & Cupcake Carrier from Kohl's
My aunt gave me this and it is pretty awesome if you enjoy making cupcakes. Cupcakes are always such a mess to take places, but I love making them for people. This makes it so much easier! You can also use it for cookies, but I don't make cookies nearly as often.

 -  LOVE ear cuff from Icing by Claire's
I'm not sure where else you can get this cuff, but Claire's always has really cute cuffs if you there is not an Icing anywhere near you.

 - Gift Cards for the movie theater, Starbucks, Ulta, Sephora, and Forever21
You can't go wrong with gift cards! You can avoid that whole impersonal thing by getting the person you care about a gift card to somewhere they love to shop or by getting them a gift card to do something together, like a spa or the movies. Also, some gift cards come with cute things making it a bit more personal or like you put more effort into it. My Sephora card came with a cute little compact mirror and my dad and his wife attached ornaments to my cards and my sister's. I got a little fox ornament on one of mine which was awesome because foxes are my favorite animal and I love getting stuff with foxes on whatever it is. Likewise, they attached a robot ornament to my sister's, because she likes things with toy robots on them. So simple, but trust me, it makes the present more meaningful.

 - Jesus Calling by Sarah Young (Devotions for Every Day of the Year)
I just started doing these at the beginning of the year and I really like the devotionals so far. If you get this book, I recommend reading the intro. I normally do not read the intros, but this woman's testimony is very interesting and beautiful.

 - 2 blazers from my mom + a new scarf & leggings
I got a red blazer and a blue blazer, because I wanted a blue one, but my mom really like the red one. I think the blue one was from Kohl's...Anyway, clothes is a good way to go as long as you know what the person likes and will wear more than once. My mom knows my taste really well, so these were all good gifts.

 - Disney's Sleeping Beauty
Aurora is my favorite Disney princess so nough said, this was a good gift.

- A butterfly wallet done in oil paints.
This was from Icing by Claire's. This was one of the best presents. It was more of a birthday present than a Christmas present, but this present was a great present, because I have had the same wallet for ten years and it was really gross and needed to be replaced. I also love butterflies and I'm a painter so I appreciated the print.

 - a new planner
I just really needed one of these, because I hadn't gotten one yet for 2013. It is really good to listen to what people are fighting with themselves to get in stores. When I give gifts, if it is something they really wanted, but did not expect, it makes their day, which in turn will make your day.

I hope me sharing my gifts with you guys will help you out with future gift giving! That's all I've got right now to share with you! Until next time, may the sun always shine your way! Bye!
